Is it worth always buying the most expensive one?
Not necessarily. The goal is not “most expensive” — it is “right grade for the job.” For a residential backup that cycles daily, invest in Grade-A cells and a good BMS. For a rarely-used backup, a mid-tier battery may be fine. The mistake is buying the cheapest without knowing what you’re getting. Ask the supplier to show the cells, the BMS, and the test report — then the price makes sense.
